Zootopia 2 North America Box Office: Crosses Captain Marvel’s $426M to Claim a New All-Time Domestic Rank

Zootopia 2 has now completed fifteen weekends at the North American box office and is still holding its ground. The animated Disney sequel has crossed another meaningful milestone, this time surpassing the lifetime domestic earnings of Captain Marvel, the MCU’s first female-led film.

It is a feat worth paying attention to, especially for an animated title running well into its fourth month of release.

The film brought in $747,000 during its fifteenth weekend in North America. It is now playing on just 885 screens after losing 465 theaters over the past weekend.

On the following Monday, Zootopia 2 added $50,000, which marks a 63.5 percent drop compared to the same day the prior week.

Per Box Office Mojo’s latest figures, the film’s cumulative domestic total has climbed to $427.3 million after 104 days in theaters. That number is what pushed it past Captain Marvel and into a new position on the all-time domestic chart.

Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson, holds a special place in Hollywood history as the first solo female-led entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Its domestic lifetime haul sat at $426.8 million, making it the 35th-highest-grossing film of all time in North America.

Zootopia 2 has now claimed that rank. With $427.3 million in the domestic market, the animated sequel has pushed Captain Marvel down one spot and taken its place in the all-time top 35 list.

For an original animated film, that is a genuinely impressive achievement.

The next title in Zootopia 2’s path is Toy Story 4, which earned just over $434 million at the domestic box office during its run.

Given that Zootopia 2 has lost a significant number of screens and faces fresh competition from new releases, closing that $7 million gap will be a real challenge. It remains possible but far from certain at this stage.

Internationally, Zootopia 2 has been an absolute force. The film collected $1.4 billion from overseas markets, and when combined with its North American total, the worldwide gross sits at approximately $1.86 billion.
